Since 1994, I have been professionally employed in the equine industry in many varying capacities. Originally starting as a groom for a full-service farm, I have managed farms (which included doing book work) for “A” circuit Hunter/Jumper farms, eventing and retirement farms and Thoroughbred trainers and training facilities. I have broken race horse babies for the track, retrained Thoroughbreds into riding horses and shown and/or owned hunters, jumpers and eventing horses. I even tried my hand at polo…which didn’t go well! LOL
I worked as an equine veterinary technician for over ten years, traveling to farms during the Thoroughbred breeding season and being the weekend technician supervisor for a large equine clinic, I traveled on the road with an “A” circuit horse show veterinarian and I also worked for University of Florida Large Animal Hospital. In addition to those experiences and skills, I am also a licensed C-1 “r” steward for H/J shows.
In my years managing farms and being a veterinary technician supervisor, I have successfully turned around private farms from being extremely unprofitable to getting back “in the black”, largely through my excellent bookkeeping and tight management abilities.
